A grand classic!
When Mole decides to go for a walk one beautiful spring morning he has little idea of the world that awaits him by the riverbank. He soon encounters brave river-faring Ratty who introduces him to kind old Badger in the dark Wild Wood and Mr Toad of Toad Hall. The four companions share many exploits and work together to help the irrepressible Toad through a series of comical misadventures resulting in his eventual return to glory.
The Wind in the Willows is the must-read classic of children’s literature, written by the Scottish novelist Kenneth Grahame published in 1908. This novel is a striking work, one of the best-known in the anthropomorphic animal fantasy genre, and is famously set in the upper Thames Valley countryside where Grahame spent his final years.
This edition is a magnificent 260 pages, 8.3 x 11 inches (21 x 28 cm) hard cover book, and through the pages Grahame’s story and Dunn's illustrations feel like a match made in children’s book heaven! Throughout the book, you'll come across more than a hundred coloured paintings, each of them portraying one of the many adventures our little river bank friends go through! In other words, it is the perfect addition to every bookshelf (though, as true book lovers, we strongly recommend you put it next to other editions of The Wind in the Willows, if you have any).
Chris Dunn is an English illustrator working mainly in watercolour who has already collaborated with prestigious names such as the BBC, Netflix and the Times. His original work has been exhibited in several galleries such as The Mall (London), Victoria Gallery (Bath) and Galerie Daniel Maghen (Paris).
Originally from Keighley, West Yorkshire, you can find him in Calne, Wiltshire, with his family, busily painting in an upstairs studio and surrounded by beautiful countryside offering a constant source of inspiration. This is Chris Dunn’s third book published by Éditions Caurette, after the charming and delightful Léa Lapin et le concours de cabanes and Le Vent dans les Saules.
