This book is a collection of character designs created by American character designer Carter Goodrich throughout his career in animation. These drawings, excluded from castings by “reluctant” studios, are nonetheless the most interesting of his output (and above all his favorites), carefully preserved in his boxes and meticulously selected for this book.
Limited edition of 1,000 copies, published on the occasion of the “Western!” exhibition organized from May 28 to June 21 at the Daniel Maghen gallery in Paris.
Carter Goodrich is an American illustrator and character designer. He first became known for his New Yorker covers and illustrations. He then moved into animation, designing characters for films such as Shrek, Ratatouille, Despicable Me and Brave. His expressive, original style greatly influenced the aesthetics of these productions.
At the same time, he is an author-illustrator of children's books, including Say Hello to Zorro! and We Forgot Brock!, acclaimed for their humor. Awarded several prizes, including two gold medals from the Society of Illustrators, Carter Goodrich is recognized for his tender yet funny style.
