REJOICE! Geek-Art and Editions Caurette are very happy to continue their partnership, for the greatest pleasure of art lovers! Here is the second copy of our Time Limited Art Prints (TALP) collection! We didn’t come up with the idea, but let us explain how it works: instead of printing a fixed number of posters and then sell them in only a few minutes, we’ll put an art print on sale for a few days and then print however many were sold during the said timeframe. That way, no need to stress out if you have a slow Internet connection or if you are not available in the minutes following the launch of the print. Everyone can get their hand on a copy!

All art prints will be numbered according to the number of sold copies and provided with a signed certificate by the artist.

A Sparkle in the Night

We are very proud to present a superb illustration by Stan Manoukian from his series Diary of Inhuman species. For those of you who don’t know Stan (yet), he published many books with Glénat, Ankama and Delcourt. He is best-known for his work with Vince (VortexLes Chronokids...) which got them the "Fauve jeunesse" at the Angoulême  International Comics Festival in 2011!

For several years, he has been drawing monsters for our great pleasure. Monsters... by the hundreds!

Nature is life ! It is a subject which takes more and more place in our society, the importance to preserve and respect it, we went too far ! My "fantastic" universe is not really different from what already exists. If you look well around you, you will realise that I do not invent much. I think I have a big need to escape through what I draw, to reconnect with it and to connect people too, to get back to the source of who we are and where we come from and to give love to nature. I feel guilty and I am a frustrated city-dweller actually!

Stan Manoukian

A Sparkle in the Night is a magical work, full of poetry and filled with strange and friendly creatures, Stan plays with the chiaroscuro accentuating the mysterious character of this scene sketched on the spot. The original was drawn on a beautiful Vinci 250 gr paper (graphite lead and red pencil, 30x42 cm). The reproduction that we propose during these three days was scanned in high definition by Stan himself and made to be as close as possible to the original. Printed in a 50 x 70 cm format and on a beautiful art paper, the result is sumptuous!

Notice how these exceptionally precise and richly detailed drawings do without vignettes, speech bubbles, or any other text, to plunge us into wonderful adventures with a childhood flavour. The gestures, the expression of the faces, a luxuriant vegetation worthy of naturalist and botanical plates... His drawings seem to come straight out of the notebook of a 19th century traveller, who would have been lost in a poetic universe, yet sometimes nostalgic. This is what Stan Manoukian's art offers to the glance.

If you're interested in Stan's work, we can't recommend enough (besides his Diary mentioned above) the excellent article by Sophie-Anne Reydellet from which the two quotes above are extracted, as well as the very good article (in French and in English) by Jennifer Gori on Beautiful Bizarre.
