Born in 1967, Christophe Chabouté published in 1993 his first works for Vents d'Ouest in Récits, a collective album about Arthur Rimbaud. In 1998, he directed Sorcières au Téméraire and Quelques jours d'été. Two remarkable and award-winning albums, the first at the Illzach festival, the second at Angoulême where he won the Alph' Art Coup de Coeur. With Zoé released in 1999 by Vents d'Ouest, Chabouté proves that his talent has reached its full maturity. This is demonstrated even more clearly in Pleine Lune, which won the 2001 Extrapole prize, the Limoges city prize, the prize for best screenplay at Chambéry and two nominations at Angoulême 2001. In 2014, he undertakes to adapt Herman Melville's Moby Dick, into a comic strip. In 2018, he opens the doors of his studio in Bricoles, gribouillis et fonds de tiroirs, a sublime artbook that takes the reader on a graphic journey retracing 20 years of his career. The following year, he resumed his series of Bitter Fables and delivers eleven short stories of daily life led by softness, poetry and silence ...
Chabouté's very personal work is increasingly successful and has been awarded numerous prizes.
