Cromwell is a troublemaker. As the son of a Foreign Legion officer, he was forbidden from reading comics, but he proceeded to attend the prestigious Gobelins School, where he discovered animation and made long lasting friendships, including Riff Reb's with whom he founded the Atelier Azylum.
He is the author and co-author of several comics and illustrated books, like Le bal de la sueur with Riff Reb's, the Minettos Desperados, Anita Bomba, and a must-see adaptation of Fenimore Cooper's novel, The Last of the Mohicans. Most recently, he has painted illustrations for Batard, Jack London's novel.
He then (of course!) released his artbooks End Zone (Caurette Editions) and Quelque Part (Akiléos) in 2020.
His subversive style has taken him to the top echelon of French comic artists and illustrators.
Éric Gratien is a writer, known, among others, for Traces de Pneus with Éric Puech and the 3 volumes of Minettos Desperados with Cromwell (Glénat and Soleil editions).
He also shares the Asylum workshop with Kisler, Qwak, Édith, Riff and Cromwell. Gratien and Cromwell worked a few times times together, first in 1989, when they published Les Minettos Desperados (Gratien then worked under the pseudonym Ruffner), followed by Anita Bomba with Casterman.
Contains the first three volumes of the series, (in French) as well as 20+ pages of never-seen-before sketches!
