Cromwell is a troublemaker at heart. His subversive style has made him one of the most influential French comic artists and illustrators today. He is the author or co-author of several comics and illustration books, like Le bal de la sueur with Riff Reb's, the Minettos desperados, Anita Bomba, but also The last of the Mohicans, a great adaptation from Fenimore Cooper's novel. Right now, he paints illustrations for Batard, Jack London's novel which will be realease later in 2021 or 2022 .
This book is about drawings and pictures. Raw images, fresh out of the boxes, without text nor comment. It is about giving something to see and to feel so that each and everyone of us can imagine our own story, dream, lose ourselves or linger a little. Some pictures have already been published in other books from Cromwell or during shows performed by his band La Bonne, la Brute et le Truand. Others are presented here for the first time, born without other purposes than to exist in the middle of a sketchbook: passing image, a break between two destinations, where time allowed him to tame and capture. These images are not part of a story yet, waiting to have another life... somewhere.
