As a young viking Even Mehl Amundsen ventured forth from his native Norway in search of spoils, art and battle. He plundered his way through Cornwall, then Quebec, Prague, and finally California. But while roaming is grand in its way, no harbour is sweeter than that which is close to home. Even is now back in Norway, working as a freelance concept artist working for studios like Volta, Blizzard, Riot, Wizards of the Coast and many more. Besides this he has been working on his own world as shown in TEGN. He is often travelling, teaching what he has learned in workshops and giving advice to newcomers.
TEGN, like many other art books, was launched as a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter with overwhelming success. The campaign quickly reached its target funding with over 1200 backers whose support made production possible.
The books are A4 hardcovers, with a black canvas backed spine and coated with leather textured surbalin paper. The inside is printed in full colour. This triology is stunning, during the campaign it was promoted throughout the world and received a lot of positive feedback.
366 days, 366 sketches telling 366 stories, some smaller, some greater. TEGN was shared first with the on line community and now published and offered as a series of 3 beautiful books that together tell the whole story that started as an innocent doodle on a New Year's day: "draw something today, and the next day and the next". Soon the sketches took on a life of their own, summoning up grand adventures and ideas for a world and its associated characters which emerged slowly from the mists of Even's imagination.
