This Artist's Edition features over 200 illustrations by Juanjo Guarnido, 90% of which are from the Blacksad series. Most of them are little-known, previously unpublished, or have only been published in the United States.

Blacksad is a cult series featuring a detective cat in an anthropomorphic world. Already spanning six volumes, the story is set in the United States of the 1950s, in an atmosphere reminiscent of American noir fiction.

About artist Juanjo Guarnido

Juanjo Guarnido is a writer, artist, and colorist born in Spain. After studying fine arts, he published numerous illustrations with Comics Forum - Planeta de Agostini for the Spanish edition of Marvel. He then moved to Madrid, where he worked on several TV series. On his very first day at the studio, he met Juan Diaz Canales, who would become his writer on Blacksad. In 1993, he joined the Walt Disney Studios in Montreuil, where he worked as a layout artist and currently works as an animator. A lifelong fan of European comics, he began work on his first graphic novel, Quelque part entre les ombres (Dargaud, 2000). In 2004, Blacksad won the award for Best Artwork at the Angoulême International Comics Festival.
