Postcard from Bilbao is the sixth title in Dave McKean's "Postcard from" series. This travel book illustrates the streets, people, and buildings of Bilbao. It was created from original drawings made during the 2010 Bilbao Comics Festival and then at the artist's own home from May 2 to 5, 2011.

The book contains black and white works created using a variety of techniques. These works are inspired in particular by the impressive Guggenheim Museum. Located in Bilbao, this museum (designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry) is a magnificent example of 20th-century avant-garde architecture. McKean has said that it is the most inspiring building he ever had the pleasure to see, photograph, and explore.

Like the others in the collection, this sketchbook will delight collectors, as well as all illustrators, graphic designers, and comic book authors.

About the artist Dave McKean

Born in England in 1963, Dave McKean has more than one string to his bow. The artist works in illustration, photography, graphic design, comics, and music. His creations combine several techniques, ranging from line drawing to sculpture and collage. In 1987, he created the graphic novel that made him famous, Violent Cases, with his collaborator at the time, screenwriter Neil Gaiman. Throughout his career, Dave McKean has illustrated comics, graphic novels, illustrated stories, album covers, and more. His work has won numerous awards, notably in the United States, Italy, and France.
