In 2012, a few months before he passed away, Sergio Toppi made about twenty color illustrations inspired by the poem La Perla written by Roberto Mussapi, a contemporary Italian author. This book was published for a special exhibition on Toppi’s work which took place in Florence (spring 2018). The poem La Perla is in Italian.
The Milanese artist never stopped – for our greatest pleasure – creating series of colourful illustrations about themes that were important to him. This book highlights his relentless research as well as the evolution of his style and techniques, with illustrations accompanied by short texts written by Toppi himself.
In this new large format Mosquito collection, Massimiliano Frezzato (author of the well-known comic book Les Gardiens du Maser) made beautiful illustrations inspired by the masterpiece Pinocchio (by Collodi).
