About the film Kiki's Delivery Service
Kiki's Delivery Service is the fifth Japanese animated film from director Hayao Miyazaki. Produced by Studio Ghibli in 1989, it is an adaptation of a children's book of the same name by Eiko Kadono, published in 1985.
Kiki, the main character, is a young witch who leaves home at the age of thirteen to live on her own in a new, European-looking town. There she sets up a fast air delivery service, since her only real magical power is her ability to fly, and meets many people who help her integrate and learn to be independent. Although Kiki is a witch, the film focuses on the vicissitudes of everyday life for a young teenager who must come to terms with her own abilities in order to find her place in a new community.
