About the book Silence

Silence is Moon’s seventh artbook. This volume was born out of the artist’s desire to bring together, in a single book, the short stories he has been developing for some time in his sketchbooks. Building on Exploration, released in 2021, he wanted to give his images a greater sense of time; allowing them to unfold and suggest a silent narrative, without words. These are true visual tales.

The short stories, which are unrelated to one another, are told using different mediums. Moon drew the panels one after another, refraining (as much as possible) from going back, letting himself be carried only by his imagination. Thus, the pages took shape instinctively, panel by panel, in the manner of automatic writing. Sometimes, a sequence also emerged from a single illustration that the artist fragmented through cropping, in order to reveal different moments.

Silence is a high-quality book. With 180 pages of content and printed endpapers, it also features a lay-flat binding. This type of binding — which allows the book to open 180 degrees! — makes it both beautiful and durable. A book you will love to flip through and admire over and over again.

"In this work, I explore rhythms, transitions, and framing, to tell a story or simply let a feeling emerge. I won’t reveal the themes or the starting points of these stories. First, because I haven’t identified them all myself, but also because I want to leave plenty of room for your own interpretation... These visual tales evoke strange dreams — everything seems coherent in the moment, but it is sensations rather than meaning that emerge from them."

About artist Moon

Moon began his career as a graffiti artist in the 90s. After a few years of self-taught drawing, he entered art school, which later led him to work as a graphic design and art director, and then as a graphic design teacher. Under his pseudonym Moon, he is currently devoted to crafting his own personal universe through illustrations and paintings. His creations are mostly gathered under the moniker: "Polychröm Symbiosis", illustrating this vividly dreamlike and surreal world. Moon expresses his universe through various works of art shared on social media, in galleries via solo or group exhibitions, and, of course, through art books: 365 Squares Vol. 1,  Vol. 2 et Vol. 3Circus of SoulsExploration, and Drizzle. Recently, he even illustrated his very first fine art print, Times 365, published by Caurette.
