Achdé was born in 1961. He grew up in Nîmes, in the middle of the garrigue, in the heart of a mixture of communities and cultures. Attracted by the Great Outdoors, he embarks, in 1983, on a journey of initiation à la Jack Kerouac; direction North America! He gathered his (meager) savings and hid money in his socks to escape the government's exchange controls. He spends a month between Canada and the United States before returning to France.
He fell into the comic book world as a child. The "fault" of Morris, Lucky Luke and the mythical scene of the poker duel in the album The Judge, as well as Asterix. After years of hardship, he signed a contract with Dargaud on his 30th birthday, met with success with the series CRS = Détresse, Les Damnés de la route, Les Canayens de Montroyal, and finally, with the revival of Lucky Luke.
