About La Horde du Contrevent - À l'ombre des forêts linéaires
Following the success of their previous art prints (Kim Jun Gi, Mathieu Bablet, Neyef, Aseyn & Boulet, Ronan Toulhouat, etc.), Caurette presents La Horde du Contrevent - À l'ombre des forêts linéaires, a new large-format print in collaboration with Geek-Art and Éric Henninot. As its name suggests, the illustration is inspired by Alain Damasio's best seller, La Horde du Contrevent, which Delcourt Publishing adapted into a comic book series. Éric Henninot illustrated the four volumes that currently make up this series.
The print is a “standard” size, which makes it easy to frame! You can find 91 x 61 cm frames at many home decor stores, such as IKEA (25 €).
As usual, all prints will be numbered and signed.
Éric Henninot talks about it...
"For this illustration of La Horde, I wanted to revisit an idea I had at the very beginning of the project, when I was still in discussions with Forge Animation—the production company that was going to make the film adaptation of Alain Damasio's novel. The novel mentions linear forests, and I found the idea extremely beautiful. I imagined that the tree trunks in these forests followed the lines of turbulence they were subjected to, with the forest becoming a vegetal manifestation of the wind.
I tried to illustrate this idea in the comic book, but the density of the narrative didn't really allow me to linger and properly stage a scene where we would have discovered these famous linear forests. When Caurette and Thomas from Geek-Art asked me to create a very large-format illustration, I quickly saw it as an opportunity to return to explore these vegetal turbulences.
I made many sketches in pencil or directly in pen. I usually draw in a very small format in order to stay focused on the framing and rhythms of the image before starting on the final drawing. I'm not used to doing such large drawings, and it was not easy to avoid getting lost in the details of the image. I really enjoy adding detail to my images, it is a real pleasure for me, but the risk is losing the overall coherence of the image. This is why my small sketches are so useful and serve as a safeguard.
I also rarely do color illustrations because my comic book work does not often give me the opportunity. So I am extremely enthusiastic when I have one to do. But at the same time, I feel caught in a kind of paradox that quickly puts me under enormous pressure. Since the opportunity is rare, I absolutely must not miss it! The only way to get out of this calmly would be to do it more often. Failing that, I just go for it, improvise, and let the chips fall where they may. But for me, the conclusion is always the same: color is a world unto itself!"

About Éric Henninot
Éric Henninot is a comic book artist born in 1974 in Rouen. From 1997 to 1999, just after graduating, this art enthusiast worked as an engineer. However, in 2000, his desire to draw became too strong. He took drawing classes, created illustrations for a children's book, held a few exhibitions, and participated in the Angoulême “young talents” competition, creating his very first comic book for the occasion.
The publication of his first album, De mémoire d'Hommes, launched the Alister Kayne, chasseur de vampires series. Published by Albin Michel, the script was written by Stéphane Betbeder. He then drew the first two volumes of the Carthago series, written by Christophe Bec. In 2017, he began working on La Horde du Contrevent, a comic book series adapted from Alain Damasio's cult novel. There are now four volumes in the series.

The principle behind TLAP (Time Limited Art Prints)
The concept is simple. Instead of offering a fixed number of copies of an art print and quickly selling out, a time limited sale is organised and the final quantity of prints are limited to the number of copies sold during that time. So if you have a slow connection or cannot get online in the minutes after the print is released, you are still guaranteed the object of your desire—in this case a high quality art print, ready for framing and hanging in a choice spot for optimum viewing!
