The auction sale catalogue for Tintin organised by Christie's and the Daniel Maghen gallery on the 14th of March, 2015.
The sale of 10 Tintin plates at Christie's on March 14th, fetched €800,000.
The second lot, an original cover produced for Le Journal de Tintin in 1978 and offered to the publication's director, fetched 577,000 euros.
The creator of the famous reporter in knickerbockers is a sure thing on the market. In May 2014, a sale at Artcurial fetched a record 2.65 million euros, including fees. And on 7 March this year, Sotheby's began selling comic strips. A 1938 cover for the tenth anniversary of Le Petit Vingtième sold for €453,000, within the €450,000-480,000 estimate. Total sales that day devoted to Hergé came to 1.2 million euros.
We can say that the comics market is doing well since Christie's achieved total sales of just over €5 million!
