Cromwell is a troublemaker at heart. His subversive style has made him one of the most influential French comic artists and illustrators today. He is the author or co-author of several comics and illustration books, like Le bal de la sueur with Riff Reb's, the Minettos desperados, Anita Bomba, but also The last of the Mohicans, a great adaptation from Fenimore Cooper's novel. Right now, he paints illustrations for Batard, Jack London's novel which will be realease later in 2021 or 2022 .
Cromwell is one of the most fascinating artists I know. But, despite what you might believe flipping through thisdespite what you might believe flipping through this artbook, he paints no more than he draws… No… What Cromwell does is tear substance from the world to attach it to his canvas or paper. Every page of this book carries the battle scars of this confrontation with shrouded, surrendering reality - they mark five decades of struggle, littered with skirmishes, pitched battles, sweat, anger, moments of flair and dazzling brilliance.
In this artbook you willl find the very best of this immensely talented illustrator: 228 pages of drawings, paintings, sketches and journeys between all sorts of worlds – some of which you will probably recognize! Not only has he unearthed from his boxes archives of all kinds, but these are more than forty years of works carried out alongside the book he presents us with today.
