About the Book

In a submerged world where only a few islands remain above water, Litha is a tough young warrior and the leader of the air force on the island of Loimata. When a massive fleet of hostile, conquering nomads lays siege to the island, Litha decides to venture into the foul-smelling fog of the Funeste, a forbidden islet and the epicenter of the evil that destroyed much of the island several hundred years ago. Indeed, hidden within the Funeste lies a secret and malevolent weapon that represents the islanders’ last hope of repelling the invaders. But no one has ever returned alive from the Funeste… Ultimately, the demons awaiting Litha and her companions will be internal; the wounds and sufferings of the past will resurface and show no mercy. Strongly reminiscent of a Moana-style Polynesia but darker and more harrowing, Harpoon explores the transition from adolescence to adulthood against the backdrop of the weight of family and its demands.
