Born in 1981, Armel Gaulme graduated from Penninghen/Académie Julian (Paris) and credits Alan Lee, John Howe and European illustrators from the 1900 as his sources of inspiration. As a professional artist, he made preproduction drawings and matte paintings and created several children's books with various publishers beginning with Adam Biro, Le baron Perché, and then Casterman and Bayard.

He currently teaches drawing and illustration at Ecole Méliès and works extensively in his own studio.
In 2014, he became obsessed with drawing and painting watercolors to illustrate Rudyard Kipling's short story,
The Man Who Would Be King.

Current work: Monography and we look forward to his next projects: an illustrated anthology of the H.P. Lovecraft archives, and an illustrated selection of 19th century erotic poetry.
